Gastronomy is the study of the relationship between food and culture, the art of preparing and serving rich or delicate and appetizing food, the cooking styles of particular regions, and the science of good eating. One who is well versed in gastronomy is called a gastronome, while a gastronomist is one who unites theory and practice in the study of gastronomy. Practical gastronomy is associated with the practice and study of the preparation, production, and service of the various foods and beverages, from countries around the world.
FOOD is always on our minds. This picnic at the Merlotta vineyards was one of many in a a summer to remember with some of our best guests. Tuscan picnics on our annual
Tuscany Getaways are always followed by sightseeing, hiking or sketching and painting for the artists amongst us. The views from the Merlotta castle, display vineyards & vistas with cypress treed borders, making a patchwork quilt of the gorgeous landscape.
On our upcoming tour from June 28 – July 10, 2019 we have 3 spots left. Is one of them YOURS? www.artonlocation.ca. May we send YOU an itinerary? firstname.lastname@example.org
ONLY 9 WEEKS LEFT until our 2019 Tuscany & Venice Getaway, June 28 – July 10, 2019. This may be your last chance to register, share this with a friend — we have only 3 more spots left in our medieval country house, Le Cerchiaie near the Medival village of Anghiari:
Come and enjoy the serene countryside around our infinity edge pool, as you lie in a hammock, encased by the Appenine mountains and fields of smiling sunflowers.Watch the sun set from the aptio as a chef prepares and serves your moonlit 5 course dinner.
Enjoy a pizza from an ancient pizza oven at the Bar Baldaccio Ristorante in the Piazza Garibaldi. Day trips to Assisi, Florence, Arezzo and the beach of Rimini on the Adriatic Coast, are taken from our medieval base of the village of Anghiari.
BUT MY FAVOURITE day trips are to the small, off the beaten track, medieval villages were you can wander and wonder at the views, enjoy local cooking and views and vistas. I like to sit in the stillness, meditate, journal, paint, read… feel sun on my body and the mountain breeze in my hair.
We depart Toronto on June 28 and arrive in time for the celebration of the Battle of Anghiari, fought in 1440 on June 29 and painted by Leonardo Da Vinci. Pomp and ceremony, medieval costumes, flag showers and horsemanship. Not to be
missed — that is why we panned the trip around this event.
Children and adults alike can take Cooking Classes,Painting and Drawing Workshops or a Composition for Photographers and Artists Workshop, learning how to take better, artistic photographs and see light on subject matter like they have never have seen before.
Our second week will be spent in the friendly city of Florence and then Venice, exploring the canals and ancient merchant centre.
Museums, cooking and painting classes are optional.
We have separate itineraries for children.
Its not too late, as I said, we have3 spots left in our beautiful, authentic, rustic rooms left for a relaxing trip of a lifetime! Join me? Contact me directly and I will send you an itinerary: email@example.com
Students Invited: Need Help with Unfinished Paintings?
As artists we are sometimes BLOCKED (like writers), we get so far in the story of our once-inspired painting, and then —BOOM! Life happens to us! For whatever reason, stress, homework or workload interruptions, procrastination… we (temporarily) loose our inspiration. Come together in a group and we will positively critique and problem solve and inspire you to go on and finish that work that started with Such Passion!
Finish off those paintings where you got stuck, or add that last 5% of work required to make 100% of the difference! Dawn-Angela will guide you through and also help you to complete your PORTFOLIO for SCHOOL APPLICATIONS.
MARCH 12 WORKSHOP:
Different mediums & techniques are taught by DAWN-ANGELA SEELEY. Come to a workshop on March 12 at Crackpot Studio or book a private lesson in a medium of your choice in your home! Minimum 2 hrs. firstname.lastname@example.org
Look at some of the works that were recently finished off in a semi-private lesson!
Stained glass paintings by Savannah, Isabella, Emily, Apple and Abby.
NEW Course : Art4Tots starts January 15, 2019, 10.30 to 11.30am.In recent years, school curriculums shifted heavily to core subjects, math, reading, writing. What about the arts? Creative activities are building blocks of child development and learning, to create and appreciate visual art is more important than ever as children grow up in an age heavily dependent on technology. Its time for balance.
Motor Skills + Language Development + Decision Making + Visual Learning + Inventiveness + Cultural Awareness = Improved Academic Performance: Studies show a correlation between art and other achievements. Studies have shown that young people who participate regularly in the arts (three hours a day on three days each week through one full year) are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, to participate in a math and science fair or to win an award for writing an essay or poem than children who do not participate.
Donations from Sale of Paintings & 38 Candles in Antique Teacups.
November 18 was set for my annual HOME STUDIO SHOW, and I promised to donate 10% of profits the the Children of Promise Orphanage in Guyana. My daughter, Angelica was not going to be left out as she was born in Guyana and she pledged all proceeds from making scented candles in antique teacups.
Initially we sourced 7 teacups and glasses and lovingly filled them with Vanilla Bean scented wax. At the show, Angelica sold out in 1/2 an hour and continued to take up to 38 orders! God bless her efforts! She raised over $600 and also had a very kind donation from a gentleman who wrote a cheque for $500!
Please contact me if you would like an invitation for a private showing of watercolours, acrylics, oils and mixed media with sterling silver & 14 kt gold, before my Spring Studio Show in April: email@example.com
Here are some of the paintings that sold and went to good homes! LOL.
