Visiting the medieval village of Anghiari, Tuscany with Art-On-Location: This beautiful sunrise is just one of the reasons I keep bringing groups back every year since 2002!
On Sunday morning the sun rose in line with the medieval Roman road called Corso Mattiotti.
Enthusiastic amateur and professional photographers (and a ballerina) came out at 5.30am to welcome the Dawn! Why don’t you plan to join us next July for painting and photography ops like this one? A Family Getaway to enjoy a stay in a 17th century country farmhouse amid cypress and chestnut trees, vineyards and sunflowers, plus sightings of wild boar and deer. You will enjoy day trips into the Chianti region, the cities of Assisi, Florence, Sienna and Arezzo, and the medieval villages of Citerna, Monterchi and Caprese Michelangelo to see the birthhouse of Michelangelo. Experience for yourself the culture of Tuscany in local market places, museums, galleries and churches.
There are art, cooking, photography and horse riding lessons for children and the country house has swimming pool — a must on hot days after sightseeing trips.
Art-On-Location in Tuscany: 2 weeks in July 2019.
ONLY 4 WEEKS LEFT until our 2018 Tuscany Getaway. This may be your last chance to register, share this with a friend — we have only one room (for 1 – 4 people) left in our medieval country house, Vecchia Valdigatti in Anghiari: www.facebook.com/VECCHIA-VALDIGATTI-Farmhouse-Tuscany
Come and enjoy the serene countryside around our infinity edge pool, as you lie in a hammock, encased by the Appenine mountains. Enjoy a pizza from the house’s 18th century pizza oven. Day trips to Assisi, Florence, Arezzo and the beach of Rimini on the Adriatic Coast, are taken from our medieval base of the village of
Anghiari. BUT MY FAVOURITE day trips
are to the small, off the beaten track, medieval villages were you can wander and wonder at the views, enjoy local cooking and views and vistas. I like to sit in the stillness, meditate, journal, paint, read… feel sun
on my body and the mountain breeze in my hair.
We depart Toronto on June 28 and arrive in time for the celebration of the Battle of Anghiari, fought in 1440 on June 29 and painted by Leonardo Da
Vinci. Pomp and ceremony, medieval costumes, flag showers and horsemanship. Not to be
missed — that is why we panned the trip around this event.
Museums, cooking and painting classes are optional.
We have separate itineraries for children.
Its not too late, as I said, we have one beautiful, authentic, rustic room left for a relaxing trip of a lifetime! Join me? Contact me directly and I will send you an itinerary: firstname.lastname@example.org
On DAY 8 of our TUSCANY & VENICE TOUR this July: Sunday : We will take a short road trip to Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis, who founded the Franciscan religious order in 1208. Take your time, relax at a cafe in front of the Basilica, or go in, see the art of Caravaggio, take some quiet time to reflect in the church or for some photography and sketching in the beautiful court yards. This is my favourite thing to do… avoid the crowds, sit on the side lines and people watch. Plan ahead, freeze a bottle of water to carry with you and find a shaded spot to pull out that sketch book and a 6B pencil! Some students bring watercolour pencils (just add water later at the infinity edge pool at our Vecchia Valdigatti Country House). While the history buffs take in a tour, we artists take in the architecture and religious icons.
